Boccard Piping Colombia : BOCTRACK as a Business Development tool
Traditionally accustomed to fabrication projects, it is with some apprehension that Boccard Piping Colombia (BPC) hosted the unprecedented demand from their final customer, Ecopetrol : using their so effective fabrication tracking software BOCTRACK to follow up the pipe installation using the construction module!
After defining the contractual scope of services, a engineers team trained on BOCTRACK and piping technical in Cartagena leaves the Caribbean coast to get to the Barrancabermeja refinery, in the center of the country. They accompany the erection of the pipes ... they prefabricated themselves! This is now a project management assistance contract based on BOCTRACK utilization alongside the direct client, a Colombian consortium called SCIAM in charge as EPC of the unit 250 Revamp. During the 4 months dedicated to preparation, BPC deploy the software use for all project stage such as material reception, quality control, prefabrication and painting tracking, construction engineering ...
In permanent contact with BOCTRACK experts in Houston and France, the BPC team were able to adapt the consortium working methods and the customer specifications to the "homemade" software, which has proven its adaptability even though the project had already started! Ensued 65 unit shutdown days 7/24 for which resources have been increased on-site to deal with the activity influx and the working time extension: up to 12 people mobilized on the refinery for monitoring the erection, from spool reception to the commissioning including Non-Destructive Test, heat treatment and hydrotest, without forgetting the daily communication of progress and productivity reports necessary for project strategic decision.
It was finally a success for Boccard, since Ecopetrol has recognized the great usefulness of the system for project management, QC doc-pack creation but also for its coherence with commissioning security issue. It brought many opportunities to use the software more upstream (especially including procurement management) and generalize within Ecopetrol projects, opportunities seized by BPC course!
